Sheena Thompson - Honduran Maritime and Offshore Injury Lawyer
About Ms. Sheena Thompson
Licensed to practice in Honduras.
Sheena Thompson graduated at the top of her class at the Catholic University of Honduras in La Ceiba, Atlántida, Honduras. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Law in 2014.
Before graduating, she worked as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant for various attorneys. While attending university, she also completed an internship in the Honduran Supreme Court, under the supervision of Judge Yamilet Calero in the Criminal Court of Rulings in La Ceiba, Atlántida, Honduras. Sheena also completed 30 pro-bono cases in four months for the Honduran government as part of her community service before graduating from law school. In addition to all required courses, during her years in law school, Sheena undertook courses in Total of Quality Management, Litigation Techniques, Criminology Seminar, Solution of International Conflicts and International Public Law.
The thesis project undertaken by Sheena, as part of her Honduran Bar admission requirement, was dedicated to the improvement of Family Patrimony for the well-being of the children, including the government’s mandatory contribution to family assets, and the Social Security personal employee contribution. That thesis was chosen by the Honduran Congress as a model as it works on reforms in this area of Honduran law.
Sheena is a licensed attorney in her native country, Honduras, and is a current active member of the Honduran Bar Association. Her English and Spanish skills have allowed her to successfully assist Simien & Simien’s Spanish speaking clients.
Sheena is currently enrolled in the Translation and Interpretation program at Loyola University so that she may further assist Spanish speaking persons who have claims filed in the U.S. Court system. From an early age, Sheena wanted to be a lawyer so that she could assist those who suffer injustices that affect people during the course of their lives, knowing that many of them did not have access to the justice system. Often, this was because they did not know their rights or had not been given adequate and proper advice. These inequities instilled a desire to work in an area in which she could correct them, and she decided that the study of law would place her in the best position to help those in need. Sheena is very passionate about understanding and studying law and arguing for people’s rights.
