State Police Troop F Investigating Another Fatal Car Crash

car-accident-ambulance-edit.jpg

There has been a lot of tragedy on the Louisiana roadways this year. One Louisiana state police troop has investigated 22 fatal car crashes that led to 23 deaths.

The most recent accident happened on Thursday, July 14th, on Interstate 20, a few miles east of Monroe. The victim drove his 2015 Dodge Challenger over the median into oncoming traffic and hit an 18-wheeler, setting both vehicles ablaze.

The victim was trapped in his car until another driver managed to pull him out. The man was driving home from work and watched the accident happen. He stated that he had to do something to try to save the man’s life.

When he pulled the victim from the car, he was unconscious and not breathing. He started CPR but was unsuccessful. The Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced the victim dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the truck was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt. But there was a passenger in the 18-wheeler who, although he was wearing his seatbelt, was transported to the hospital to treat minor injuries.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol played a role in the accident. State police obtained toxicology samples and sent them for analysis. State police are still investigating the incident.

Wearing your seatbelt, as the truck driver and passenger did, could mean the difference between surviving and dying in a car accident. Wearing your seatbelt is always a good idea, and it is required under Louisiana law.
