David T. Hanks is a trial attorney in the Trial and Litigation Section of Simien & Simien, LLC. He is originally from Monroe, Louisiana, but moved to New Orleans to attend Loyola University. There he earned his bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts and Mass Communication in 2011. After graduation, he worked in the entertainment industry in New Orleans and Los Angeles, while also writing scripts for theater education clients including Strauss Youth Academy for the Arts and CA Studio. He moved to Baton Rouge in 2015 to attend the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center where he earned his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and Graduate Diploma in Comparative Law (D.C.L.).
David is actively involved in the community and is a member of the Louisiana Association for Justice (LAJ), the state’s preeminent organization promoting justice for those seeking fairness in courts to redress their injuries. He is excited about working in the justice system to help injury victims and their families fairly recover and to help uphold the honor, tradition and dignity of Louisiana’s civil law justice system and the legal profession in general.
David has been admitted and is licensed to practice law before all state courts in the State of Louisiana. His primary practice area of focus with the firm is litigation. Prior to joining the firm, David worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Louisiana, handling litigation in their general liability and transportation divisions. While attending Paul M. Hebert Law Center, David gained experience working as a law clerk for CenturyLink, Inc. and Hudson, Potts & Bernstein. He also worked as an extern for the LSU Research and Technology Foundation. David has experience in trial preparation and motion hearings and can assist clients seeking help in their motor vehicle and other injury claims.

David assists in the Simien & Simien litigation section, handling contested trials, cases and motions practice as well as a significant role and involvement in preparing of these matters for trial. His prior experience will well serve Simien & Simien’s clients having serious injury claims in a variety of areas, including industrial accidents, offshore oil and gas drilling operations, seaman and maritime injury, careless operation of commercial and other vehicles, dangerous operation of 18 wheelers, and other serious injury cases, etc.
David joined the litigation division of Simien and Simien in 2019, and looks forward to continuing his work to help injury clients and those needing legal counsel and assistance in matters pending throughout the State of Louisiana.
